The Servers

All of our sites are placed on web servers meeting the following minimum specification:
Model: Dell PowerEdge
CPUs: Dual Intel Xeon 2.8GHz
Memory: 2 Gigabytes RAM
Storage: Multiple SCSI Hard Drives
Backups: Daily local & Weekly off-site
Operating System: Linux
Control Panel: WHM / cPanel

The Datacentre

The datacentre we're using for all new clients is a purpose-built Tier III facility, located in the Midwest US state of Iowa. It has been designed to withstand intentional attacks, electrical storms and tornadoes.

Security is by layered access-control, with only pre-authorised personnel having direct access to the servers. Biometric (hand print) and card security is complimented by proximity and motion sensors, along with full video surveillance of the complex.

Fire protection is provided through dual FM-200 gas and VESD (Very Early Smoke Detection) systems. If needed, the FM-200 system releases a gas which evacuates the oxygen from the datacentre within seconds. This extinguishes fire faster than any other substance could.

Power is handled at first by three separate lines from the utility company. In case of failure, two 500kW Mitsubishi UPS systems are in place with two diesel generators as backup.

The Network

Our present deployment of servers are connected to the internet via multiple divergent paths including dark fiber, OC-48 Sonet Connections, and connections to Tier-1 and Tier-2 providers. The private backbone is connected to exchange points including MAE West, PAIX, NYIIX Telehouse, LINX Telehouse and AMSIX NIKHEF.
